Under current law, a district attorney or attorney general is charged with filing a petition to initiate legal proceedings to validate revenue bonds. If HB 844 is enacted, the district attorney, the Attorney General, or their representatives would not be required to appear at any validation hearing or any subsequent proceedings. Instead, the authority intending to issue revenue bonds would be responsible for making the case for the validation of the bonds. This bill did not pass.

This bill defines "correctional long term facility" as a skilled nursing facility established by or contracted with the state exclusively for former inmates of the Department of Corrections, a federal institution, or a county or local detention facility who are reprieved, paroled, or given other conditional release from a correctional institution or local detention facility to such facility. It further exempts these facilities from the certificate of need program requirements.
